Lowboy and excavator
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
The semi and lowboy were constructed a few years ago with the intent of building a dozer or excavator to pair with it. This past January I started fabricating the track section for the Toys and Joys excavator. The track pads are cherry with the rest of the excavator being white hard maple. My 60 year old Rockwell bandsaw and my scrollsaw got a workout on this piece. As hard as maple is, I like using it on these because the cut edge stays so crisp. Workbench for a small space.
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
New work bench of reclaimed lumber. Base is mortise and tenon construction . Used 4×4 pine dunnage that I was given. Finished about 3-1/2ish once the twists and bows were milled out. The top is fabricated from salvaged oak joists – 3+ x 10+ x about 12' long.the oak and some fir timber's, I bought from a salvage company for $1.25 bf. The tool tray lifts out, for emptying shavings, debris etc and provides an option to fill gap to make a full top if ,as some have suggested, I tire of the tool tray becoming a catch all. Distance from the front edge to the front of the tool tray is 18. Tool tray is about 6 . Still need to add leather to the leg vise. Have provision built in for a removable dead man. I have a Wilton quick release vise that I may install as a tail vise in the future. The top lifts off, if I ever need to move the bench.
