Small Format Live Edge Dining Table
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
My latest live-edge table was delivered this evening. This one being a 60×32x2” monkeypod slab atop one of my custom-designed table bases. The slab sounds somewhat small due to the client having a smaller dining area adjacent to the kitchen. However, this table does seat 6 comfortably. The slab itself features very straight grain, thankfully with no cracks that needed repair, and was topped with Rubio Monocoat Pure. (We put a small amount of mineral oil on it for the pics to give it some luster.)The base is a custom-designed splayed leg profile, with each leg being laminated 8/4 sections that are template routed. Each stretcher is mortised thru each leg and draw-bored for added strength. Each leg pair/stretcher is half-lapped at 90-degrees to each other to create the base, and 1 stretcher is shorter than the other, thereby giving it an elliptical profile, accommodating the narrow slab. We've got a TON of projects going on right now at Doc's Designs Furniture, follow us on Instagram (@docsdesignsfurniture) for the maker-centric feed and see the projects as they progress.
