Bluebird bird house
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Made from reclaimed pallet wood. There's oak, fir, and poplar in there for sure. Maybe something else, too.Base is 5 square on the inside, and the hole is 6 off the base, and 1.5 in diameter, which are the numbers for the western bluebird. The roof overhangs enough to hopefully keep ravens out. The front is hinged at the top with a couple dowels so you can clean out the old nest easily. Gravity will keep the front closed, but the nail with a handle will make sure it stays closed.Drainage holes in the bottom (the cut off corners), and vent holes at the top (again, cut off corners). I think this is about as simple as a birdhouse gets.Glued and screwed butt-joint construction. Should last a few years, but mostly I wanted to test this idea for the hinged front, and one of my neighbors wanted a (free) birdhouse. Can be mounted to a pole by putting screws through the back or the bottom.

Knife... My First
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Had this knife blade for about 15 years. Found it in a drawer and decide to make a Walnut Handle for it. Didn't have any brass pins… so I just turned some out of Maple. Just some BLO (Boiled Linseed Oil) for a finish. It'll be used as a go-to in the shop.

Spalted Maple Keepsake Box
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
My wife's brother and his wife had their first child and my wife is the baby's godmother. Completed this Spalted maple keepsake box as a gift for her parents to store this newest addition of the family's mementos. The maple is some I milled from a tree we took down that was interfering with our waterline. Walnut hinge and lid accent. Oak tray and document keeper on the inside. Swing arm latches from Amazon.Pyrography for the monogram and birth date. After testing varnish and not caring for how it changed the color, end up using spray can lacquer based on advice from other LJs and couldn't be more pleased with the clarity and how well the spalt shows. The soft maple was a bit challenging to work with, but pleased with the outcome. Dimensions- 6 x 10 x 5-3/4Thanks for looking.
