Second furniture project, plant stands w pine, poplar, sapele
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Pocket screws, easier than joinery but hard to get really square joints. The other main job was to see how to joint boards (small ones) without a jointer or table saw. Planing two boards side-by-side made them match pretty well. Though its hard not to over-do the last inch or two on the ends, leaving a gap when glued … now I know, could also make boards a little long and trim off the ends after glueing. And staining is still mysterious, need a lot more experimenting before putting it on final structure. That B&W poplar board just called out to me, still think its pretty good. And sapele is just a great wood. Wipe on poly, 4 or 5 coats, hope this is good enough for plant-stands. This was fun and lots of learning, and mainly, it just about justified all the $ of rearranging garage into workshop, to my in-house gardener AKA Management.)
