Restored 'teachers' chair
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
This is my wife's new “teacher's chair”. She's home schooling our two grandkids, and needed a swivel chair to sit on while teaching. This particular chair belonged to her father, Paul, who used it in his home office for many decades. The chair fell into disrepair and was salvaged from a trailer full of trash. The metal mechanism (swivel/tilt) was in good shape, as was the backrest. But the seat and the legs needed to be replaced. These I built our on new red oak.New castors completed the job. The chair was stained and topcoat with Varathane clear finish. The colors were chosen to match the two desks I made for the grandkid-students in their classroom (in our home). My wife's father was a professor of engineering, and so it is fitting that his favourite chair would pass on to his teacher-daughter.
