Carved Wall Clock
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Hi:This is my latest project, a wall-hanging clock. The carving is in 6/4” Cherry, but the wooden dowel pieces are out of various woods, chosen for color, texture and size. Mostly, though, I chose the sizes from the collection of dowels I had in my studio.I used a bandsaw to cut the disks (six different diameters) all to the same thickness. The disks were lightly sanded, and then glued to the carved clock face. Because I was applying glue to the dowels' end-grain, the disks adhered very quickly to the clock face, leaving little time for re-arranging.The cock mechanism is a straight forward quartz type, with a 3/4” stem. I chose a set of long hands to reach across the clock face. The finish is satin varathane which really brought out the color of the wood.Hope you enjoy what you see :-)
