20 Year old mesquite dining suite

Furnished content.
(from WoodNet.net)

I built this mesquite dining set in 2005 for the Mesquite Art Festival in Fredericksburg TX. Nobody bought it and I didn't have room for it, so my sister 'homed' it. It's moved all over Houston, and was in storage there for a couple yearswhen she moved to NYC and back (twice). She just doesn't have room for it in her new Indiana place... so now it's with me.
Yes

Basics... table base is a 'pedestal' with interlocking'wings' for top attachment (into screw inserts in the top).Tenons are all through, with square ebony pegs. Ebony plugs theremovable assembly screws to hold the display rack on the sideboard, solid plugs at the bench seat to base attachment.Table topis 40 x 66. End caps on the top are glued solid for length; they aren'tfunctional breadboard ends. As is typical with mesquite, you can't feel glue creep or movement anywhere on the topafter all these years. Two benches, two chairs. The chairs are similar to others I built back then, but a little more 'formal'.

Finish is WATCO natural with Sherwin Williams Dull Rubbed Effect lacquer. Other than a few scratches and one 'heat spot' on the table top, the finish looks like new to me.

All these years later I still considerthe sideboard my best 'technical' work, and I'm tickled to enjoy it again.

I always used Weldwood resin back thenfor panel/topglueups, andGorilla poly for closed mortise and tenon. Closeup below shows where I didn't get the poly glue cleaned up enough at this joint (and the one at the other end). Interesting that it took yearsfor that to show up.

I'm sure I posted these 20 years ago, but as far as I can tell, the picture posts don't go back that far and I thought it might be worth sharing again.
Cool
