Kreg Jig screw question

I am building a workbench where a yellow pine 2 by 4 will need to be screwed to a red oak 2 by 4. I have previously used a Jig to attach pine 2 by 4 lumber and I recall using a course screw because the wood is relatively soft. Do they make a fine screw for use on hardwoods likeoak?

Bench Dog

Just thought id share. Excuse the messy bench in the middle of a couple of projects.I drew in solidworks and 3d printed this bench dog. I also printed a small wedge to help open up the spring slot. I was surprised how well it works. Next time I need a bench dog I know what to do.
