17th Century Oak Chest
Furnished content. (from WoodNet.net)
Been trying my hand at some carving in oak. This is white oak I bought locally from a guy that had some trees cut and sawn.
This is a smaller version ofa box in the "Joiner's Work" by Peter Follansbee.
I messed up the carving on the top board, but decided to stick with it. I did a bit better on thedrawer face with a different carving which I like a lot more. The small trim pieces on theends are walnut.
This was a mix of power and hand tools. I did make the cleats for the lid (seen in the drawer), but have not decided if I am going to attach themyet.
