SCROLL SAW BOWL MADE FROM POINCIANA LOG
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
A friend gave me a small log nearly 2 years ago and it was dripping wet and very heavy. But now it has dried out and is remarkably light in weight. It is also a very soft wood, I think it is POINCIANA.It has a very unusual Grain / Figuring running through it. Sanding was easy enough because of the softness, but I knew it would be difficult to achieve a gloss. So after numerous coats of Organic Danish Oil I Buffed it by hand.. The finished result is the best I can do. If anybody has any suggestions please feel free to say. I would be most interested. I would love to achieve a gloss on most Projects. It was cut on the Scroll Saw from one of Carole Rothman's Patterns..The Bowl is made up of 4 rings and a Base cut at 28 Deg.Kind regards,Cliff.
