Flower Vase - Dead or Alive
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Had not used the lathe for awhile and got bored yesterday afternoon. I had a piece of Eastern Red Cedar approx. 6/7 inch thick, 5 foot long that was 4 or 5 years old, so I cut a chunk off and proceeded to get with it. When I started I didn't know it had all those darn knots all over and in it. Made it a bear to turn but it came out a lot better than I thought it would. It is 7 inches tall by 4 inches wide. I drilled a hole in the middle with the lathe so it could be used for dry ( dead ), flowers or put in a tube ( for water ), for live flowers. It was sanded to 600, then triple EEE and was topped off with a good wax. My shop now smells like a Cedar chest.
