A Set of Concealed Catch-all Boxes for Trinkets
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
This is a set of three stacking boxes which look like a stack of books but is actually two drawers and a flip-top box.Anybody might walk right by this without knowing its true purpose! And that was the plan.Made from a bunch of scraps, along with some purpleheart and other hardwoods, and some leftover sheetgoods. The drawer bottoms are 'flocked' they feel like suede but are a soft surface. Finally I got to use my #66 Reeder to scratch in the effect of pages in a book. The bottom 'book' can accommodate 8 1/2” X 11” sheets if so desired. I put in bookmarks in the upper two units, made from kerosene lamp wicks. The graphics were achieved through multiple methods, either scanned originals or created with MS Paint, then printed on onion skin paper and then transferred onto the surfaces with clear gloss polyurethane. This will be a retirement gift for a teacher with 35 years in the school system, I masked off her name for the photos. I hope she likes it!
