I built this workbench featured in Woodsmith #50 some time ago. Did not build the cabinet underneath. Used mostly (98%?) reclaimed hardwood material, accumulated over time mainly from pallets . Amazing some of the wood found in those pallets.

A contributing factor was probably the bottom of the tray to the right. Specs called for the holes attaching it to the bottom of the top be elongated to allow for seasonal movement. "Yours truly" either overlooked or ignored this detail and paid the price as I think it pulled the pieces apart, i.e. something's got to give!
In any event, the top was due for an overhaul.
