This a was a thin slab of sycamore that was freshly cut. I like the clear grain and thought that the contrast with a charred edge would highlight it. The shape was determined by the cut of the slice, so I didn't try to make it symmetrical and thought that it had a modern look. It was finished with thinned lacquer and a wax. Al
