Second furniture project, plant stands w pine, poplar, sapelePocket screws, easier than joinery but hard to get really square joints. The other main job was to see how to joint boards (small ones) without a jointer or table saw. Planing two boards side-by-side made them match pretty well. Though its hard not to over-do the last inch or two on the ends, leaving a gap when glued … now I know, could also make boards a little long and trim off the ends after glueing.
And staining is still mysterious, need a lot more experimenting before putting it on final structure.
That B&W poplar board just called out to me, still think its pretty good. And sapele is just a great wood. Wipe on poly, 4 or 5 coats, hope this is good enough for plant-stands. This was fun and lots of learning, and mainly, it just about justified all the $ of rearranging garage into workshop, to my in-house gardener AKA Management.)
