So my mom recently sold her house and bought a new place and as she is digging out of 40 old years worth of stuff, she comes across this old kitchen table and she asks me to refinish it for her. The table is around 60-65 years old, as near as any of us know, and it was covered over is layers of old, flat white paint. I cleaned it up and stripped the table top and found this beautiful old hardwood underneath. I didn't have the heart to cover it back up with paint. A little sanding and stain and poly and it came out looking pretty good, I think. Mom loved it.
