Microjig Convertable Horizontal And Vertical Clamping TableHi All,
I have updated the table top of my Multi-function Workbench that I posted here a couple of years ago.
I used a good quality sheet of maple plywood, made a box without a bottom, and routed the dovetail grooves on top and on the sides. It slides down over the existing top.
Then, I wanted to be able to flip the table top vertical so that I could work on projects that needed to be clamped in that orientation.
I made and attached two red oak sliding arms at the bottom of the workbench that are slotted and held in place by bolts. They slide over and attach the bottom of the table to the workbench, keeping it good and solid.
With the casters locked down, the workbench doesn't move a bit! (It may look like the table will tip over, but I have two 45 pound barbell weights built into the bottom of the workbench and it is super stable! It takes just a few minutes to convert the table from horizontal to vertical.
I really like the Microjig system and I am planning on making more jigs using the dovetail clamps!Ryan
