Maybe 5 years ago i made some bunk beds for the two oldest kids and then I had two more. My girls are now 3 and 7 and while all of them like sleeping in the same room my eldest girl said she wanted a bed of her own. We talked about it and she said that a hanging bed would be fun so i made a hanging bed. Then my 3 yr old wanted a bed of her own so i made that too. In the end they all sleep in one room or the other still.The main sections of the beds are made of pine with the ladder and legs made of pallet oak. The boys bed was held together with pocket hole fasteners and i worried about the longevity of it but it was early in my wood working career. For the girls i decided to do mortise and tenon joints all around and well, they at least look better IMO.Pallet Wood
