Charging CradleCradle to hold a wireless charging pad and phoneCame from a need – the USB jack on my son's phone died, so he could only charge with the wireless pad. No problem at home, but hes'a always on the go, and in the car, walking, etc, it was very hard to keep the phone positioned on the charging pad.Goal was to make a cradle for the charging pad, cord, and phone, as light and compact as possible, that would hold the phone in the optimum charging position/location.Made from cutoffs, the two shaped cutouts from 1/2” thick 9-ply, and the bottom from 3/16” thick 5-ply.
I cut the shape of the phone in one piece, the charging pad with it's cord in the other, glued them all up, trimmed, sanded, and put a quick coat of poly on it.
My son uses it in his pocket and in the car, says it's working well.
Fun little 90 minute project. What I should have done is cut the charger notches in the middle of the sides all the way through the top piece, toi allow for lifting the phone out. As it is, you have to tip the cradle up on it's side or partially upside down to “drop” the phone out.
