Cake Knives

Walnut and Maple cake knives I made for Christmas gifts. My wife asked me if I thought I could make them for a couple of friends, so my response was “challenge accepted!” I had never tried something like this before and I actually used an existing kitchen knife for a template. These are pretty easy to make, and an excellent use of small scraps if you're a wood hoarder like me.
A band sander and/or a spindle sander will make these almost effortless if you are so inclined. I made the walnut dowels for the handles using a piece of metal with a hole drilled in it and then running a square piece of stock through it. I saw the idea online somewhere and was a bit skeptical as to if this would work, but it does indeed!
finished with mineral oil and beeswax.
