What to do with a pile of scraps
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Over the course of a few projects. Where I've had to rip a plank for width….I soon wind up with a pile of strips….some of the shorter ones get used as cauls, then thrown out. Had a stash of longer strips….decided to cut them down a bit. Distance between the bandsaw's riser, and the blade was ~ 12”, or so…..started running all the strips in the shop through that space…..anything that was too short, or too knotty, trashcan. The rest were laid out on the bench. Edges that needed jointed..were. Was finally able to glue up a panel.Cleaned up, edges squared up….had to re-glue one spot….wound up with a panel of many colours…5/8” x 10-1/4” x 11”....bandsaw to cut the rounded corners.., edges were given a slight round-over. Waiting on Coat #2 of Mineral Oil to dry. The only cost of this project, was that $2 bottle of Mineral Oil.I think I found a use for all them scraps…Thanks for looking in!
