Plywood Storage Boxes

Plywood Storage Boxes I wanted to try out my jig making abilities, so I built a 1/2 box joint jig loosely based on William Ng's build video on YouTube. Instead of making my own runners, I mounted the jig to the fence of my Incra 1000SE miter gauge. A little trial and error and I came up with a workable version and bought a new Freud Super Dado stack dado set and went to work cutting lots of box joints. Glue up was a little tricky as the plywood swelled a bit and took some persuasion to assemble. I learned that you really have to get the fingers flush with each other in order for the box to square itself up. Had one of the first ones a little sloppy and the box ended up slightly out of square. Lesson learned. The bottoms of the box are 1/4 ply in 1/4 dados 1/4 from the base of the panels. Some sanding and a little filler to fill the 1/4 square holes left from the dados for the bottom panel, a couple of coats of spray satin poly, mount the hardware and done. I plan on making at least 8 more for my workbench. Nothing fancy but they look great and will last a long time.
