Not just another bowlPerhaps a month or so ago wildwoodbybrianjohns asked somebody if they might be interested intrading some sycamore wood for some oilve wood. It's almost common knowledge that I'll trade things with anybody no matter where they live. Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Croatia are a few countries that I've traded with as well as here in the states.
Well, to shorten this up a little, Brian and I managed to get in touch with each other and he expressed a desire to get some sycamore as well as some other woods. I gathered a 20lb. plus bundle of sycamore, wormy chestnut, purple heart and maybe something else, I just don't remember.
I mailed it off to him and he did likewise as soon as he could. My bundle of wild olive wood arrived

in short order and that same day I checked the moisture and cut some olive for my first walnut and olive bowl.

I coupled that with some walnut
and it was off to the RM
While that bowl was curing I decided to make one using the ancient olive wood with the rare and nearly extinct wormy chestnut.
Picture 3 above shows the pair and picture 4 & 5 is the chestnut/olive and picture 6 is the olive/walnut.
I'm not sure which is my favorite but the walnut has nearly been stolen twice probably because they hadn't seen the second bowl yet.At this point I have to offer my sincere thanks to Brian in Spain for the wild olive wood and I hope his stash gets released from customs in Madrid so he can have experience the same delight experiencing a new species of lumber. I can hardly wait to see his creations with it.Thanks for looking at my newest creations.
