New Kleenex Box
Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

New Kleenex BoxJudy wanted me to make her a wood Kleenex box for the larger/regular size box of tissues. I needed a fairly simple project to fit in with my other ones, plus had some wood from the two tables I am currently in the middle of.As you can see from the pictures that this will not fit a big box of tissue!!I had laminated some 6/4 maple, walnut and a strip of padauk that was just barely long enough to make the box. I ripped on the bandsaw, planed and sanded close to final thickness. Did not bring the sketch with me to the shop that morning. I knew the dimensions so cut the first long side. It was Exactly 0.5” too short; oops, dang, shoot
So the big size box was out of the question. So the smaller Kleenex box was the plan going forward. The large boxes are shorter than the regular ones. So too short for the small box.The second picture shows my solution to increase the height. To form the mitred corners I laid out two strips of Frogs Tape a couple of inches longer than the four sides. Aligned the sides almost tight, put glue in the joints and folded it up. The mitres came out tight.Jude is happy with it and I am too. I still have a walnut piece large enough for a lid for my next attempt.Dave
