Fishing Landing net
Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Fishing Landing netThis is my first steam bent landing net. I steamed the wood and clamped it into the mold first. I let it sit for a couple of days. Then took it off and glued it up, put it back in the mold for another couple of days.My first attempt I had maple and padauk, but the padauk did not bend well and split. So I resteamed with maple and walnut. The handle is also walnut.I sanded it smooth to even up the strips, then routed the edges. I made a jig to cut the thread slot on the tablesaw copied after tomgrin's great design.I drilled the holes, which was easy, next time I will get a tailors tape measure since it will bend around the hoop easier then my regular tape.I am happy with the result, except the handle is a little to wide for most people, my hands are bigger so it is fine for me. In the future I will either make the center wood thinner or carve away the strips on the outside, depending on what look I am going for.
