Clipboard remake - Fun in the shop
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
It was time to throw away my clipboard. I bought these back in 1967. Over the years I've used it for everything in the shop. Cutting, painting, nailing, backer board, etc. took it's toll on it. I kept saying I need to get a new one. While cleaning up my scrap bin I came across many thin strips of different hardwoods and something clicked in my head. I decided to laminate the old one. Removing the clip first and sanding the board before I glued the strips on I then went on to spray the clip itself. I used hammered copper spray paint that fitted the deed. After glue dried I sanded it smooth and waited till the next day to let it acclimate. I sanded again to make sure none of the pieces moved then gave it a couple coats of danish oil rubbing it in with a piece of 100 grit used sandpaper. Came out smooth as a baby. Now I need to find a nice place to hang it instead of being buried in the cabinet. Just as easy to make a clip board with all wood but this way everything got a new life.Fun in the shop.
