I used this weekend to add a much needed upgrade to my miter gauge that came with my Shipmaster contractor saw, it was very small, it fit loosely in saws miter slots and the bar was barely long enough to cut even small crosscuts. I finally decided it was the time to address these issues and make a miter gauge that was actually nice to use. I took the design from a fellow lumber jock, here's that project link https://www.lumberjocks.com/projects/79118 (don't want to claim anyone ideas). I didn't have any 1/4” MDF like Bricofleur uses on his miter gauge, but I did have hardboard, I like the look anyway. After making the new fence 4×24” I routed both tracks 3” off the bottom to line up with the adapter piece, Both sides can then be used so after one becomes to rough I can flip it over, or use one side for dados and one for general crosscuts. I secured on the factory miter gauge. once the fence was complete I made some new miter bar runners from Oak and using a dado stack I removed enough material to make a sort of tenon to underneath and inside the existing miter bar to extend the bar out to 18” and epoxied both pieces together.
