XPanel: The First Open Source Panel Saw Jig - Part 2
How to Make Your Own XPanel

I promise I'll follow up with either step by step pics, or maybe even a video (I've been lazy in both departments), but for now, here are some step by step instructions:

- follow instructions for making crossed 2by's, see Part 1
- lean two 8' 2x4's vertically and on edge, against a wall, 4' apart,
and with their bottom edges even, about 3' from the wall
- clamp another 8' 2x4 on face, horizontal, across the leaning two at about 16" off the ground, and level it
- place assembled crossed 2by's on clamped horizontal cross piece
with a long side of the "X" on the cross piece
- to counter sagging, fasten a drywall screw
to each leg of the crossed 2by's resting on the crosspiece,
and loop a link from a length of dog chain over each side, tightly
enough to draw them together and raise the crossed 2by's a bit.
- pencil mark the intersections on crossed 2by's and vertical pieces, by marking
back edges of crossed 2by's and front edges of vertical pieces
- cut out 8 angled notches using marks, half-way through each edge, 4 in edges of crossed 2by's, and 4 in edges of vertical pieces
- place vertical pieces on the floor, notches up
- place crossed 2by's, notches down, onto vertical pieces
- using lined-up notches, push crossed 2by's down onto vertical pieces and tweak until it all fits, preferably tightly
