Slick

Needed a slick for upcoming timber framing project. As I've been playing around with blacksmithing for a couple of years thought I'd try to make it. Got a piece of O1 tool steel and fired up the forge. Is all forged from 1 piece of steel. Handle is turned white oak (handled the wood with steel dust on my hands so it turned a little black, oops). Blade is 10” by 1 1/2”, Handle is 18”. Works pretty well.

Small bookcase

This was at an Airbnb where I stayed a couple of years ago, & I took a pic and a couple of measurements. The wood is madrone, milled in northern California many years ago- difficult to dry, but great to work after that. the 5/8” sides and shelves are joined with #10 biscuits. The trefoil design is very easy & fun- three tangent holes with a forstner bit & rout with a small cove. 22”, 32”, 10”, shelves angle 12.Does this happen to you?
