Eucalyptus Bowl with Epoxy Inlay
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Large bowl (11” x 6”) from a eucalyptus tree cut down in our neighborhood. I attempted to inlay green stones in the rim – but I didn't account for the fact that, because they were translucent rather than opaque, they almost disappeared into the epoxy. Much more subtle than I planned, but doesn't look too bad. (I live by the old woodworking axiom that there are no mistakes, only impromptu design changes). There were also lots of cracks and holes that I filled with epoxy so the bowl could be used for salads, etc. One particularly large hole created a little side window into the bowl. Finished with General Finishes Bowl Finish.

Surfboard Cribbage Board
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Made a cribbage board in the shape of a surfboard for my son's birthday. He and his girlfriend are both surfers and wanted to learn to play cribbage. Made from walnut (middle), maple (scoring lanes), sapele (outsides). I glued up the strips, then planed the blank to thickness. I then glued on a paper template I made in Powerpoint for the shape and hole locations, and drilled the holes on the drill press. Next I bandsawed out the rough shape, then worked at it with a belt sander to get all those good surfboard compound curves. But, I was careful to leave a large flat on the bottom so it doesn't rock and wobble in use. Finished with General Finishes Arm-R-Seal.

Signs
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
I had these two signs laser lettered by LJ Kposty ( Thanks Ken and Laura). The top one is to commemorate the 50th year of the Buckley Old Engine Show. 2017 was the one year I missed and I found out they had a special branded shingle that year and I missed it. So I bought a 2017 plate from the foundry there and made my own with the help of Ken and Laura. The plaque is made of mesquite with a little fractal figure on the top.The bottom sign is a memorial to Bill Howard the owner of Saskatoon golf course who passed away this year . It will be placed on the bridge over the creek in the middle of the course. It is made of red oak and both pieces are finished with clear lacquer. Since the red oak sign will be outdoors, I'll seal it with clear epoxy when the weather warms up over 70 .The last shot are the typical shingles we get that are branded at the foundry at the show.Cheers, Jim
