Foyer Coat Hanger with Shelf

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Foyer Coat Hanger with ShelfI made this coat/hat hanger for the foyer of my house. The front door is directly to the right of the mounted hanger.I used cherry and walnut. The main frame is mortise and tenon with the slats using kind of a half-lap joint to get some dimensionality (mortise and tenons would have been too thin). The corbels are only mortised and tenoned on the walnut uprights and the top shelf is only glued to the cherry top rail. The shelf won't be holding much weight. This is the first time that I used metal keyhole discs for mounting. It was pretty easy.I posted a video of it, if anyone is interested.

Wedding gift card box

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Wedding gift card boxAbout 10 months ago I received a call from a follow woodworker asking if I could make a box for someone, my reply was yes. The customer gave me the dims of the size of the box that he wanted and the type of wood (Basswood) it was a wedding gift card box. After making a prototype from pine I was given the go a head. He did not want the box to be assembled as he needed to do some carving. – after 4 months he called me to let me know that he was finished carving and needed the box assemble. After seeing his work I was scared of making a mistake with the build. He also ask if I could make a tray for the inside of the box that can be used after the wedding. the name of the customer is Wayne and it is for daughter's wedding.
I had some challenges with the build but in the end it turn out perfect. Sorry for the quality of the pictures as like you all I'm a wood worker not a photographer.
Wayne has some special skills with the chip carving work that he does.Sorry, one more thing to add, the part that fits into the opening in the front of the gift card box will have the date carved into it once the date has been set for the wedding and put into place.
