Trivets (Adjustable)
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Adjustable Trivets, made from Red Oak, Cherry and Mahogany, finished with 3 coats of Butcher Block Oil. Started out with 1/2” x 3/4” x 6” parellagram, total of 12 pieces. The second and third photos show the jig I made to use on the table saw. I made one cut, flipped the jig around and continued cutting my pieces, which are cut at 60* and no measuring. The forth photo is the jig I used for glue up for the proper angle. The glue up portion took a little while, waiting for the glue to set up. But I worked on some organization in the shop. Overall a fun little project for additional Christmas gifts. Thanks Nathan (Lazyman) for the idea on quick gifts. Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas to my fellow woodworkers.

Wavy Flag
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Wavy flag. I pre mill 2x pine material to 1-1/4x1-3/4 x 32 long. I then bandsaw the waves onto each piece, staggering my jig 3/4 on every piece. I then screw the pieces together and with a variety of carbide and sanding heads in my angle grinder. I shape the undulating look of the flag. I will finish sand the piece then mark off the union. Next it is disassembled and stained and charred. I now reassemble, using glue and also clamping to insure tight joints. Next I carve the stars of the union. For this I use a flexible shaft on a Dremel. When the stars are done, I will hit them with a torch to give them a charred look. 3 coats of spar urethane and it is ready for display!
