With the Pandemic and all, family and friends have gotten back into card games and board games. Lots of fun for all. I'm a 59 year old geek (computer version) by vocation and background. I played (and DM'd) DnD back in the day and have played computer games for most of my life. One game I never got into was “Magic the Gathering” card game but just recently was introduced to it and had a lot of fun. I wanted to blend my woodworking hobby in so I decided to make a box to store my MTG cards. Here's the result:Dimensions are about 5h x 7w x 15lTop is walnut framed with curly walnut veneered panel on top and a light colored wood veneer on the underside. The case is 1/4 ply veneered with lacewood on the outside and walnut on the inside. Corners are cover with solid walnut. Internal dividers are 1/8in hardboard.The reason for the light veneer on the underside of lid is I wanted to try out a technique for “printing” an image on wood I saw on a YouTube video. It's accomplished by using an inkjet printer to print an image on an Avery labels sheet that has had all the labels removed so you're printing on the non-stick backer. Then, while the ink is still wet you apply it to the wood making sure to not “slip” the sheet – smears. Rub it down and role back to leave the image (in reverse). After the ink dries, spray on lacquer to seal, the top coat as you please. Keep in mind that printers don't print white (therefore the light wood) so choose your image appropriately.

Coffee Scoops

Coffee scoops … most were turned from a tree that came down in my yard a few years ago (the dark colored one was from an ornamental that we took out of a neighbor's yard).They are 6-1/2” in length, the bowl is 1-3/4” in diameter. Finish is 'Tried and True Original'.
