LARGE LIDDED BOX

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

LARGE LIDDED BOXI had a large short log from a neighbours yard and some New Guinea Rosewood given to me from my Neices Husband who is a Carpenter. He gives me off cuts from building Sites…”Uncle Cliff Loves Free Off Cuts of Wood”I hope my pictures are a little better this time. I find that if I take Pictures in Portrait Mode on my Phone Camera they come out on their side when on loaded to the L J Site? Any Suggestions?? Although when Pictures are taken in Landscape Mode they up load perfectly??? Maybe I need to buy a Camera and not be such a Tight Wad.
Anyway I hope you like this large Llidded Box.From Top to Bottom it is 5 inches. The Knob on Top would add another Inch Bringing it to 6 inches.Outside Diameter is 6 Inches.Inside Diameter is 5 3/4 inches. I decided on a strong Tenon and Mortise, hence losing a bit of inside Diameter.Inside Depth is 3 1/2 inches. The Actual Knob was Turned separately, the raised wood under it was part of the Sacrificial wood the face plate was mounted on.
I drilled a hole with a Forstener Bit and Turned the Tenon on the Knob to a comfortable fit and glued it in place with Tite Bond 111.ALAS!!!!! I DIDN”T THINK OF GRAIN ORIENTATION, SO IF YOU TAKE A CLOSE PEEK YOU WILL NOTICE THE GRAINS FACING DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS TO THE LID OF THE BOX.I gave myself an Upper Cut and will be more carefull next time!!!!The Bottom of the Box and Lid is Lined with Green Felt.
The Finish is around 5 Coats of Shellac, Lightly rubbed after the first 3 coats. Then a Wax finish rubbed on and hand Buffed. The Wax Finish is 100% Australian Bees wax and 100% Australian Carnauba Wax.Kind regards to all LumberJocks…...Cliff.
