Clear Mini Try Square

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Clear Mini Try SquareI was told it was nigh-impossible to do this, so I had to try it. The challenge is getting the getting the angles tight and accurate. It was deceptively challenging. One cannot simply route an L-shape out of plastic because it will leave an inner radius on the inside angle which cannot be fixed with chisels, like you can when working with wood.Creating a crystal clear edge on cut plexiglass without coming out-of-square is quite a challenge and took several jigs. Once I had figured out how to do that, it was a simple matter of using WeldOn/SciGrip #3 solvent to chemically join two edges at a 90-degree angle. The result is great and I can make them faster now, but the first one was definitely a real challenge.I initially did this because I had to determine the feasibility as well as the strength of an edge-joint in acrylic. I am pleased to say that the resulting square is extremely strong (I have dropped it several times—once from a height of 4'—and it has remained intact).

Tiny Push Block

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Tiny Push BlockThe smallest push block I have ever created.Made from cell cast acrylic (Chemcast) with a silicone drawer liner glued to the bottom and an acrylic drawer handle welded to the top (using WeldOn/SciGrip #3 solvent). This helps me route super small objects on the router table.NOTE: Clear Gorilla glue does not have a strong hold on the silicone. I can peel it off if I want (desirable) to replace if/when necessary. If you want a strong hold, use DevCon Home silicone glue.

Ever since being a boy, I have loved pulling things, here me as a boy, making a string controlled theatre out of trashed TV.
And some weeks ago someone threw out a big modern flat screen TV, so I had to dig in, brought it up to my apartment and went bananas…
I removed the LCD and will use the screen as a big photo lamp.Read more in the blog: https://www.lumberjocks.com/mafe/blog/132328
