Black Walnut wall cabinet
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Black walnut wall cabinet. Steve Ramsay design, I just finished his course. I'm a newbie to woodworking six months ago hadn't built more than a shelf. This piece features exciting grain patterns and a pleasing linear blend of heart and sapwoods. Was fun to build. To finish it I used grain filler and sanded to 320. She got several coats of amber shellac. I enjoy shellacking, and I like the warm look amber brings over darker woods. Eventually I lightly sanded with 600 grit then applied paste wax with 0000 steel wool and buffed it out with a cloth. For the doors I sanded to 600 grit and applied boiled linseed oil. I wanted the doors to pop a little more, especially since they were made from a real nice curly figured board. They then got the same amber shellac and paste wax finish.Maybe cutting boards next I dunno. Sure is fun!
