Reflecting on love

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Reflecting on loveI was looking for a piece of wood that would speak to me and present me with a heart. I found this piece of burl that had a large hump in it. I tried to imagine how to make a heart out of it and thought, if I could create a reflection, it will be my heart. It had a very large cavity in it and thought, what a perfect area to fill with epoxy and add some red to the piece. This piece can be a center piece for a table or comes with a French cleat (hanging mechanism) to mount this to a wall. The only real way to see the heart is to view it in the mirror. I love the symbolism of this.I believe this wood is burl cherry. It is large, 16×16 x 24”Yearly, I donate a piece of art to the Memphis Child Advocacy “Works of Heart” art auction. This year it is virtual, so anyone can bid on this. https://www.memphiscac.org/worksofheart/The auction is online from Feb 7-14 via the link above.

Tool Cabinet - Wall mount

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Tool Cabinet - Wall mountMy tiny shop needed better organization so built this cabinet to help. Its based on Shop Notes #122 but I reduced the size down to 5ft in length from the original plans. (even now it takes nearly the whole wall!!)Made from Popular 1×4's and 1×10's, plywood backing and some walnut knobs I turned. finished with a simple waterbased poly. Came out nicer than I expected and I am indeed pleased. Time to stock it up!!!
