BOOT of MANY COLOURS!
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Had a piece of wood in my stash and have no idea of the species. Not only was there a colour variety, but in addition the wood was full of blemishes which added to the character and eventual challenge to the boot being carved. I had my idea of how it was to look but the wood had it's idea. In the end the wood won out and I present to you a boot of many colours! Enjoy!Roman, the Bootman!

Quarantine teaching break
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
I needed a desk to hold a second monitor for teaching during this school year but I didn't want something that was going to be sitting around and open and be a one hit wonder. I was able to use pieces I had (including a messed up epoxy piece) to make this. It has a hinged front that folds down and opens up to be a desk revealing the second monitor. After this school year, and this Covid craziness, is over I will take out the monitor and put a shelf inside. The space inside is about 4,25 wide, which is just big enough for most bottles of liquor. This will become a post quarantine liquor bar for parties and get togethers! The desk is walnut, spalted maple, chill epoxy and black diamond pigments, and a spray lacquer

Super Mario themed rock climbing wall
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
Over the last couple months my boys and I have been working on a Super Mario themed rock climbing wall. They helped build, paint, lay out, and assemble almost every piece in some way or another. I'm not sure who's having more fun, me or them!It features a question block that lights up and makes a coin “bling” when you hit the bottom as incentive to reach the top, and a plush 1-up mushroom for an extra life in case you fall. The cushion on the bottom is a Nugget and serves as its own source of creativity, like the time when Bowser stole the 1-up and put it atop his castle! My materials list with links, costs, and quantities is all in a google doc here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n_e-vXi3dOUHtWXetfCcmWgYUEp4fcEYVf6ocFY3y1o/edit?usp=sharingI made a few blog posts about the progress here that have way more detail: Planning and Construction – https://www.lumberjocks.com/jamsomito/blog/131504 Painting the Scene – https://www.lumberjocks.com/jamsomito/blog/131536 Accessories, Bringing it to Life – https://www.lumberjocks.com/jamsomito/blog/131541Some more highlight photos are below. This was a great memory for all of us to create, and it has already brought immeasurable joy to me watching each of my boys see the magic come to life in front of their eyes. Hope you enjoy!
