I was approached by a very bossy 2 year old and asked to build a sandbox. She's so cute that you just can't say no :) So I did a drawing in Sketchup and went to My local Home Center and picked up all the materials to knock out this quick DIY Sandbox. I made a choice to keep it simple where it could be accomplished in just a day or two and we also wanted to make sure it was elevated so it would keep out animals (snakes are bad in our area) and when the lid is on, the kids can sit on as a bench. A couple of nightstands I made to match the bed I recently made. The wood is edge glued oak that is reclaimed from a friends work that he gets for me. I tried a new stain from Minwax called charred effects. It's different but I like the way it turned out.
