My grand daughter likes to paint things and also likes to watch the birds at feeders. So Pops to the rescue my girl and her 5 friends have something to decorate and put stickers on whatever they want. Walnut Slab Patio Table with Custom Base
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
This walnut slab I acquired a while back and was struggling for ideas of how to use it. It had some awesome crotch figure, but had a large crack straight down the middle that would have been tricky to fix with epoxy.Being a guy who likes contrast, I figured I'd split it, joint/plane it to make flattening a breeze, then put the maple stripe for an accent. The base, it's a variation on my live edge dining table bases, simply cut down to size. Some folks don't like the look of natural poplar, but I do. It seems to compliment the figure in the walnut as well.As for a finish? Some shellac to seal it and some marine spar varnish as this piece is on our screened-in porch.Check us out at @docsdesignsfurniture on Instagram for our maker-centric feed.

Yakety Axe
Furnished content. (from Lumberjocks.com)
I really love good clean guitar of all genres. Chet Atkins was a major influence on many of them. I took a few liberties with this pattern by Charles Dearing and knocked this out on my scrollsaw. The guitar neck was especially tedious. I hope you all like it.
