Echoes of Aja

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Echoes of AjaHere's a box I did in 2009. It's made of Bubinga, ebony, and boxwood. It's another design that seems to be pretty popular on the web – in that it shows up in all sorts of odd websites, Pinterest, etc.Basically, that means it's going to be copied a lot.

Square Yarn Bowl

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Square Yarn BowlI took some time off the lathe and made this yarn bowl with 3/8” mesquite flat stock. We took 10 logs to the saw mill and brought home a truck load of flat pieces and some rounds. These have been cut and laying for 5 years. This bowl is 5” square on the inside and 5 1/2” high. I has some fractal figures on the front and is finished with shellac. To make this “open tops box”, I mitered the the sides on the sides and the bottoms and the bottom was miter all the way around and it was glued together using bungee cord for a clamp… sides and bottom at the same time.Cheers, Jim

Custom Dormer Woodwork

Furnished content.
(from Lumberjocks.com)

Custom Dormer WoodworkThis is some woodwork / cabinetry I did in a newly expanded attic, done to match the rest of the early 1900s home right down to the custom the 4-layer floor moulding that was shaped on-site. What's shown is mostly the removable HVAC covers that tie into the trim and a towel warming bench that hides the ductwork. I particularly like how the floor trim tied into the stairs. I expanded the attic with a small crew, and after the flooring was in I was left alone with a 24ft rolling workshop to do the woodwork.
