I am trying to cut oblong slices from a 2" limb. using mitre (miter) saw. I need to bend them to apply to a round piece I am working on. Got any hints about thickness, techniques. I was thinking of boiling them and then bending over a pipe or something. but I want to do 50 so a pipe doesnt seem right.

I am building the music stand that was in a recent issue of Woodsmith. To adjust the riser in the base there is a knob with a threaded stud in it. The build list showed it with a 3" stud. I am not sure what dimension I have that is different than theirs but I need a 3.75" stud. This is a $30 item from McMaster-Carr with thelongest stud they carry. My thought is to just put a longer stud in the knob but there is a roller pin holding the stud in the knob and the pin does not go all the way through the knob. What is the trick to remove a roller pin that does not go all the way through?

how do you store your wooden parallel handscrew clamps?

I've been cleaning up a bunch of handscrew clamps that I've accumulated over years-mostly thru garage sales. One was one that I must have purchased but was rusted and neither handle wouldn't turn. It took about 3 days of loading them up with liquid wrench to get them to turn. Then I found it wouldn't pivot so I applied past wax to the pivots and warmed it up so it would soak in. That took another few days. I should have started that process a few years ago.

I've been storing them in a couple of milk crates, and while functional, it's not the best. I get the feeling that you folks may have some better ideas for storage. I must admit that I had never noticed the numbers on the ends of them. I have about 16 or so of them in about three sizes.

Hide Glue question

I'm building a Hope Chest with dovetails, my 3rd/ 1 per year for granddaughters, and am considering using hide glue this time because it will be in the mid/high 80's in the shop come glue up time. In the past its been much cooler (70's) and it was a real scramble, with 3 helpers, applying titebond glue and getting it clamped up before it set.

So, I'm thinking of using Hide Glue this time because of its longer set/open time. Question: What are the pro's and con's between using Hot hide glue and Liquid hide glue and what are your recommendations and cautions. I've never used hide glue.
